A retrospective analysis of systemic and topical agents in treatment of rosacea: investigating the reality of treating rosacea in the area of new therapies
Background
Rosacea is a common skin disorder resulting from innate immune dysregulation combining environmental stress on genetic predisposition. Consensus statements provide general guidelines for treatment of rosacea. However, treatments are ever evolving and have changed over the last few years with the development of new formulations and agents. It is not known how the introduction of these medications changed treatment utilization and cost patterns.
Objectives
To investigate the utilization and cost for both topical and systemic treatments of rosacea.
Methods
This is a retrospective cohort study from the MarketScan Commercial Claims and Encounters database. Claims data will be used to determine trends and cost of rosacea therapy.
