Program Background

'Expert Recommendations for Treatment of Pediatric and Adolescent Acne' CME Symposium

The AARS held a CME Symposium in Boston, Massachusetts, in October 2011.  All of our members were invited to attend this special seminar, titled, Expert Recommendations for Treatment of Pediatric and Adolescent Acne.

Program Description

Acne is the most common skin condition affecting children and adolescents. Specific, up-to-date guidelines for the diagnosis and management of acne in pediatric patients are currently lacking. The majority of clinical trials to date for acne medications do not specifically examine safety and efficacy in patients younger than 12 years of age. Therefore, practitioners often rely on expert opinion in addition to available data.  Recognizing the need to address the special issues regarding the diagnosis and treatment of acne in children of various ages, the symposium focuses on discussion moderated by Dr. Lawrence Eichenfield with the panelists Drs. Anne Lucky, and Anthony Mancini. This symposium includes interactive panel discussions, slide presentations of clinical data and practice experience, summaries of meetings held to discuss consensus treatment guidelines for pediatric acne, and a post-meeting evaluation.
