Oxy Acne Care Gets a Reboot. In honor of its 50th anniversary, the Oxy® Acne Care brand is relaunching with a fresh look.

In addition to unveiling a modernized new package design, the brand is introducing two new products: the Oxy Acne Care Body Wash and Sensitive Pads. These join established products: Maximum Strength Cleanser, Sensitive Cleanser, 3-in-1 Pads, Deep Pore Pads, Spot Treatment, and Vitamin C Serum.

The “Oxy for Every Kind of Ne” campaign will reinforce Oxy’s commitment to tackling every type of acne from face-ne and chin-ne to body-ne, the company says.

The Oxy relaunch coincides with the 135th anniversary of The Mentholatum Company that owns the brand.

Students with HS Among AbbVie Scholarship Recipients. Among 45 recently announced recipients of the 2024-2025 AbbVie Immunology Scholarship is a first-year medical student planning to advance research into hidradenitis suppurativa.

“In addition to alleviating the financial burdens of medical school, receiving this scholarship would provide invaluable support for my research aspirations. Specifically, I am eager to contribute to ongoing research on Hidradenitis Suppurativa at my university,” says Caitlin Guidry, who is attending Howard University School of Medicine. “One particular professor’s work focuses on elucidating the roles of neutrophils and innate immunity in immune dysregulation, particularly among African American patients with HS. With the scholarship’s support, I aim to participate in her research initiatives, investigating novel treatment approaches and contributing to the understanding of HS pathogenesis.”

Launched in 2016, the AbbVie Immunology Scholarship has benefited more than 400 undergraduate and graduate students in the US. For 2024, AbbVie awarded scholarships to 45 recipients split equally among dermatology, gastroenterology and rheumatology therapeutic areas. Qualified applicants were selected based on academic excellence, community leadership, essay submission and recommendation letters. By investing in their education, AbbVie intends to promote resilience and inspire hope for a future beyond their disease.

According to data cited by AbbVie, young adults with childhood-onset chronic illness have statistically lower rates of high school and college graduation, attributed to the impact of their diseases. The AbbVie Immunology Scholarship strives to ease the financial burden and empower students to achieve their personal and academic aspirations.

UCB Hosts HS Summit. UCB’s inaugural Hidradenitis Suppurativa (HS) Summit provided a community forum for shared dialogue about HS with expert- and patient-led panel discussions focused on the HS journey and various physical and psychological aspects of living with the skin condition. Dermatologist and dermatology influencer Sandra Lee, MD (AKA Dr. Pimple Popper) was featured at the event.

Dr. Lee, who moderated a session on honest and effective office interactions, was joined by Wayne State University dermatologist Steve Daveluy, MD and Jasmine Espy, founder and CEO of The Association of Hidradenitis Suppurativa and Inflammatory Diseases (AHSID).

The UCB HS Summit in Atlanta in August is part of the company’s Make HStory  disease-state education campaign that provides tools and resources for those living with HS and their dermatologists.
